Sewing ClassOver the past five years, PPP has received large donations from the Ninos del Paraguay organization, raised mainly from the summer picnic they have every year.  In 1997 Ninos raised funds enabling PPP to purchase ten sewing machines.

In April of 1997, Ana Morales de Garcete, the mother of six sponsored children (5 girls and a boy) and a certified seamstress from PuertoMaking School Uniforms Pabla, held an information meeting to introduce a four month sewing class. Sixteen women from the PPP Sponsorship Program attended this first meeting. On May 1st the first class began as part of a training program to teach women to make blankets and clothing for their own use and for profit. At this time 13 sponsored mothers have now "graduated" from the sewing class and are busy sewing school uniforms for the sponsored children.

This past May of 1998, Sheri Bitzan, PPP director, made contact with a large clothing factory in downtown Asuncion. The owner of the factory, Anna Fadlala, was impressed with women from the sewing project and is taking their applications for jobs. This job opportunity provides ongoing sewing instructions.

How can I help?
