Connie Heinzerling has sponsored children and their mother through PPP
for more than a decade. Let’s hear about Connie’s latest visit to Paraguay;
Visiting Paraguay in the early 1990s, I learned of the Project for the Peopl e of
Paraguay and decided to sponsor two boys
living in the Chacarita (Chacarita
means “poor barrio in Spanish) with his family. Last year while visiting
Paraguay with my adopted Paraguayan son, I had the opportunity to meet one of
the boys, Joel, and his mother Rosa at the PPP office in Ascuncion.
Following this trip, I decided to sponsor the mother through the Dignity Program,
while maintaining the sponsorship of her son. This year, with the assistance of
the PPP staff, my son and I were able to meet most of the family in their
relatively new Habitat for Humanity home in Limpio. What struck me the most was
the happy interaction between the children in this family and the neighborhood
children, those youngsters who took so much joy in playing with the balloons
that we brought, or having their photos taken together. A sense of community is
thriving here – thankfully far from the slums of the Chacarita.
Sincerely,
Connie
How can I help?
