Beginnings Fourth Shipment In 1997 1998 On In 2000

 

In 1992-93 funds were raised by PPP to refurbish a daycare facility in the slums and build a medical facility and dental clinic on the grounds of the daycare (named Koe-ju) building and grounds. PPP also completely furnished this facility with medical and dental equipment and supplies and with furniture.

An Emergency Medical Fund was established in 1992-93 toMedical Care is Now Available for Families provide funds for the medical treatment, emergency surgeries and medicine for the poor children on the urban and rural areas surrounding Asuncion.

In September 1993, the first shipment of medical/dental supplies, clothing and shoes, and household items was shipped by boat to Asuncion by PPP. This shipment provided all the equipment and supplies necessary to equip and operate the Koe-ju medical/dental clinic and daycare facility. A large portion of this shipment went to support the Paraguayan social agency DIBEN.

PPP established a child sponsorship program for their families in the Chacarita and Puerto Pabla areas of Asuncion in 1994. More than 150 children are supported in their educational and medical needs by this program.

Unloading the AirplaneIn 1994, PPP began a fund to support Patronato de Leprosos of Paraguay to help purchase medicine to cure Hansen's Leprosy.

In February 1995, the second shipment of one million dollars of such items as medical and dental equipment and supplies, food, clothing and school supplies was airlifted to Asuncion by PPP in coordination with the United States Department of Defense and the State Department DENTON program. This program provides U.S. military transport for humanitarian aid.

In February 1996, the third shipment of 159 pallets (one million dollars) of such items as medical and dental equipment and supplies, clothing, school supplies and six tons of dehydrated food was airlifted by the U.S. DENTON program to Asuncion. A feeding program was initiated by PPP and other organizations in Paraguay with this food.

In January 1997, the fourth shipment was airlifted by the U.S. DENTON program. Food, clothing, hospital equipment and supplies, totaling 40 tons, arrived in Asuncion and was distributed to other non-profit Paraguayan organizations throughout the country. To date thirty two organizations in Paraguay have benefited from the four shipments of humanitarian goods.

In 1997 PPP also provided school supplies, clothing and food for the community of Tobati.
