Cleanup was the First StepIn 1997 and 1998 two young women, Carmen Castillo, Assistant to the PPP Director in Asuncion and Claudelina Coronel Recalde attended the beauty academy in Asuncion.  Maria del Carmen Arce, daughter of PPP Paraguay director, Maria Antonia Castillo, graduated with honors in May, 1998 and is the manager of the salon.   Claudelina Recalde graduated in May, 1999 and works part time while finishing high school.

Remodeling of the space for "INTER COIFFURE SHERI" began in May of 1998.  The salon opened in August, 1998 with five hydrolic chairs and two sinks.  TPlanning the Location of the Sinks and Countershe salon will be located in downtown Asuncion near the PPP Office. Carmen will be the manager of the salon and will supervise other young women who attend and graduate the beauty academy. The beauty salon was developed to offer job opportunities for PPP sponsored women and also to generate funds for the job training/placement program.

PPP would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Chris Erickson form the Belvedere Company in Minneapolis, MN and to Jim Grapinski from Pyramid Beauty Supply in St. Cloud, MN for their generosity and expertise in providing 90% of the supplies and equipment for the salon. Also, Pedro Cespedes in Paraguay lent a professional hand in securing a reasonable shipping charge and duty free clearance for the supplies and equipment through his import/export business.

How can I help?
